Biography

Denise is a dedicated community advocate who emigrated from the UK to South Australia in 2004, bringing with her a strong work ethic and commitment to family values. 

As the mother of two children with autism, Denise understands firsthand the daily challenges facing families navigating support services, healthcare systems, and rising cost of living pressures.

Coming from a proud railway family - with her father and grandfather both serving as train drivers - Denise has continued this tradition of hard work through her career in South Australia's industrial sector. She has worked both above and underground in mines and steelworks across South Australia, giving her genuine insight into the struggles of working families and the importance of secure, well-paying jobs.

In Florey, Denise has witnessed and lived the daily struggles that local families face. 

As a passionate sports enthusiast who loves Rugby Union, she has played veterans rugby for the Crippled Crows and serves as a committee member, demonstrating her commitment to community involvement and teamwork. 

As a strong advocate for single parents, she has spent years fighting for better support systems and recognition of the unique challenges single-parent families face. Denise understands the gaps that local families face in mental health services, specialist medical care and family support systems.

 Denise is committed to addressing the key issues affecting Florey families: tackling the cost-of-living crisis, improving housing affordability, strengthening family support services, and ensuring accessible mental health care and specialist medical services. Her authentic experience and unwavering dedication make her the strong voice Florey needs.
