Biography

Leon Stephens is a born and bred Upper Spencer Gulf local who has advocated for his local community over many years.

As Port Pirie Mayor, and Chairperson on state and local organisation committees, Leon is a strong local voice, implementing practical, community approved outcomes.

Leon hopes to use his extensive experience to fight for the communities of Stuart in the Parliament of South Australia.

A sixth generation Port Pirie local, Leon, with his wife Debra, built a successful business, raised a family and is an active member of sporting and service organisations across the region.

Leon’s years of hard work, business expertise, Local Government leadership and community connections is what is needed to fight for the people of Stuart.

He believes we need to improve:

• Support for small businesses
• Resourcing for Police and first responders
• Access to childcare
• Roads and housing

Leon is committed to championing the many industries and communities of Stuart.

He understands how tough it is for families to make ends meet, how tough it is for small businesses to keep the lights on and how tough it is for farmers, dealing with drought and inferior roads.

Leon knows that over the past three years regional South Australians have suffered under Labor's cost of living pressures.

He will be a strong and experienced voice for the people of Stuart in the South Australian Parliament.
