Biography

Shane Carter has proudly called Kaurna home for most of his adult life, raising his family in a community he values deeply.

With a degree in geophysics, Shane began his career working in the Moomba oil and gas fields before spending a decade managing complex geophysical projects internationally. His work in remote environments strengthened his leadership, planning and problem-solving skills.

Driven by a desire to give back to the community, Shane retrained as a maths and science teacher. In the classroom, he has seen firsthand the challenges facing young people and understands the vital role quality education plays in shaping Kaurna’s future.

A committed community volunteer, Shane has served in local and state sporting organisations, learning the importance of collaboration and strong local leadership.

Shane is running to deliver practical outcomes: a more affordable South Australia, improved schools and healthcare, support for small business, and protection for Kaurna’s communities and coastline. He is committed to being an accessible, hardworking representative who puts the community of Kaurna first.
