Sunny Singh was born in North India in 1986 and completed his schooling in 2002. In 2008, Sunny migrated to Australia with his wife in search of a better future for their family. A month later, they made Port Augusta their home.
Sunny’s work experience is a strong example of dedication and perseverance. He began his career in Port Augusta as a taxi driver, gaining firsthand insight into the daily challenges faced by local residents. He was later promoted to a managerial role before becoming self-employed as an owner-operator. Today, Sunny owns and operates 23 taxis in Port Augusta and a further six across the Copper Triangle, providing essential transport services and local employment.
Influenced by his passion for community service, Sunny was elected as a Member of the Port Augusta City Council in 2018. Since then, he has been a strong advocate for regional South Australia, working to ensure regional voices are heard and respected.
Sunny is also a strong advocate for community safety and crime prevention. He believes that safe streets are essential for strong communities and has consistently supported measures that tackle crime and reduce antisocial behavior.
Sunny is passionate about fixing key issues affecting local families, including the rising cost of living, high electricity prices, and the need for greater investment in regional infrastructure and services. He is particularly concerned about childcare provider shortages and workforce challenges in regional areas, as well as the lack of reliable transport connections between Hawker, Quorn, Port Augusta, Iron Knob and Adelaide.
Sunny Singh is continuing to work actively to build a stronger, fairer and more connected regional community.
