Boosting Investment in Education Infrastructure

Boosting Investment in Education Infrastructure

Ensuring classrooms are safe, fit for purpose and able to support modern learning.

What we are proposing...

A Hurn Liberal Government will invest $120 million in targeted infrastructure upgrades and maintenance works at priority school, preschool and childcare sites.

We will also commission an assessment of school infrastructure and develop minimum standard criteria for school infrastructure.

Education Department figures reveal 35 per cent of the Department’s buildings are already past their design life, a figure projected to rise to 75 per cent by 2052.

Labor have failed to keep up with the deterioration of our public schools and it’s clear more needs to be done to address the long-standing backlog of maintenance work, while ensuring future needs are met.

Our commitment will go towards the basics that matter - fixing leaking roofs, upgrading toilets, replacing worn-out carpets, improving air conditioning, painting classrooms, and addressing long-standing maintenance backlog.

This is a positive, targeted investment in education - improving learning spaces, supporting teachers, and giving families confidence that their local school is being looked after.

Our investment is part of a clear plan to strengthen school communities and create better learning environments for students and teachers across South Australia.

This is part of our plan for safer suburbs and stronger communities.
