Aboriginal affairs should deliver real outcomes, not political grandstanding.
A new Liberal Government will repeal the State Voice to Parliament and instead invest in initiatives that will deliver real, positive outcomes for our Aboriginal communities.
We will also reintroduce the Parliamentary Aboriginal Committee that was abolished with the Voice legislation.
The Labor Government’s rushed, politicised, and costly Voice to Parliament has failed to engage communities or deliver improvements, while longstanding and credible advisory bodies have been dismantled.
The Labor Party remains committed to the full implementation of the Uluru Statement and is considering how to deliver both a treaty and a truth-telling process.
It is yet to provide, however, any explanation at all about how these proposals might operate, what additional burdens they would impose on South Australians, or how they would improve outcomes.
This is part of our plan for safer suburbs and stronger communities.
