Making it Easier to see your GP

Making it Easier to see your GP

Funding extended opening hours for our GPs.

What we are proposing...

A new Liberal Government will fund a GPs after-hours access trial, with grants of up to $150,000 per practice. This will allow up to 80 GP practices to operate outside of traditional working hours.

Securing an appointment with your local GP can be tough, and there’s an added juggle to fit it in around work, school and other commitments.

We know that being able to see your doctor for preventative health care, including regular health checks, keeps us healthier in the long term and could keep you out of our hospitals and emergency departments.

Labor has also made it more expensive to see your GP, by introducing a payroll 'tax grab' on our GPs.

Under this program, South Australians could receive care until 8pm on weekdays and from 9am to 1pm on Sundays.

We are committed to removing barriers that could deter people accessing primary healthcare – that’s why we’re announcing this policy, and it’s why we are also committed to scrapping the GP payroll 'tax grab'.

This is part of our plan for a more affordable South Australia, and a better health system.
