Honouring our fallen World War 1 Diggers.
The Headstone Project SA are volunteers who find unmarked graves of WW1 veterans who did not die of wounds which would qualify for an Office of Australian War Graves headstone.
They erect a headstone which honours the person for their service, with each headstone costing around $1500.
The Project seeks to restore dignity to the final resting places of our Diggers – they rely solely on volunteers to support their cause.
If elected, a new Hurn Liberal Government will provide a $225,000 grant across 3 years to fund this important work.
This will allow the Project to mark roughly 50 graves per year.
This is part of our plan for safer suburbs and stronger communities.
