What we are proposing...
A Hurn Liberal Government will establish a dedicated Rural Financing Fund to deliver genuine no and low-interest loans to primary producers who need it most.
Primary producers are currently battling severe drought conditions, natural disasters and extraordinary market conditions.
This is causing immense pressures for our regions, having a devastating impact on primary producers, their families, and local community.
The Labor Government is failing to listen to the needs of our regional communities which is clear in the lack of support and assistance provided to our regions.
A new Liberal Government will establish a Rural Financing Fund to immediately operate through two clear support streams:
- Drought Support Loans for farmers across South Australia still battling severe drought conditions; and
- Wine Industry Support Loans for grape growers and wine makers facing serious pressure from global market conditions.
These concessional loans will be used by our primary producers to ensure the long term viability of key regional industries.
While the programs within the fund are time-limited, the structure of the fund will be ongoing with the ability to activate new programs as needed. This will create the confidence for primary producers that a safety net will be there if they need it.
Above all, this fund will provide certainty to farmers and growers that the government that has their back when times are toughest.
This is part of our plan for safer suburbs and stronger communities.
