Uplifting SA Defence Capability

Uplifting SA Defence Capability

Expanding the Advanced Manufacturing and Defence Uplift initiative

What we are proposing...

A new Hurn Liberal Government will significantly expand the Advanced Manufacturing and Defence Uplift initiative from $3.3 million over two years to $13.2 million over four years.

The major expansion will deliver both financial and technical support to help local businesses meet stringent US and UK supply chain standards - strengthening South Australian advanced manufacturing capability and ensuring the state plays a leading role in the AUKUS partnership.

The expanded program will help ensure South Australian businesses are front and centre when it comes to major defence projects, including AUKUS.

We want South Australia creating, building and delivering end-to-end, supporting skilled jobs here, not sending the real opportunity interstate or overseas.

With up to eight SSN‑AUKUS nuclear‑powered submarines to be constructed at the Osborne Shipyard, South Australian industry must be equipped to maximise involvement in this once‑in‑a‑generation national endeavour.

Expanding the program will further strengthen SA’s capacity to meet strict international requirements.

This initiative will be delivered through Defence SA, who already has a successful track record of supporting South Australian defence and space small and medium businesses in this field.
