Cutting Tax for First Home Buyers

Cutting Tax for First Home Buyers

Making it easier to buy your first home giving more choice to first home buyers.

What we are proposing...

We will abolish stamp duty for first home buyers for existing properties up to $1 million, as well as waive the mortgage registration fee.

Under Labor, housing is treated as a cash cow, with stamp duty offsetting budget blowouts.

Adelaide is the second least affordable to buy in Australia, as well as the sixth least affordable city to buy in the world.

Stamp duty continues to be a growing burden for all South Australian’s purchasing property.

Stamp duty is an additional affordability barrier for South Australians trying to crack into the housing market. We believe that it needs to be fairer and easier to get into your first home sooner.

Abolishing this upfront cost will help South Australians get into their home sooner while also giving more choice to families and young people struggling get into the home they want.

It will also enable young people to stay living in the communities they grew up, and provide them more money in their pocket for renovations.

Our plan will allow more South Australians to make their dream of home ownership a reality.

This is part of our plan for a more affordable South Australia.
