What we are proposing...

A new Liberal Government will boost our healthcare workforce through a package that will deliver real and competitive attraction and retention benefits to help grow the healthcare system.

Labor has delivered record ramping, emergency departments bursting at the seams and increased pain and suffering for thousands waiting for life-changing surgery.

Our frontline workers are under immense pressures due to workforce shortages across our health system.

Our health workforce needs to grow into the future, and we need to value and support our experienced nurses, midwives and doctors.

Our package includes:

  • Nurse and Midwife Recruitment Scholarship Program: Eligible nurses and midwives will receive up to $30,000 to support training.
  • Nurse and midwife retention and re-attraction bonuses: $10,000, $15,000 and $20,000 payments for 10-, 15- and 20-years’ service in SA Health respectively, and $20,000 to rejoin the workforce.
  • Up-front relocation incentives: An up to $15,000 up-front payment for interstate and overseas health professionals relocating to SA to work in our public health system.
  • An Interstate and Overseas GP Attraction Package: a $40,000 incentive to attract high-quality GPs to South Australia.

We want to deliver a better health system for South Australians and to do that, we need a strong workforce pipeline.
