South Australia’s energy market currently faces extreme blackout risks due to an undersupply of energy during peak demand periods which coincide with low renewable generation periods.
The Labor Government has spent many millions of dollars chasing the dream of a Hydrogen Power Plant instead of securing stable electricity supply for our state.
The State Liberals’ have a plan to secure the network by focusing on guaranteeing gas-powered electricity generation in the future and ensuring the ongoing operation of the Torrens Island Power Station B in the meantime.
We will also increase the availability and timeliness of hedging contracts for new retailers to increase competition in the market, as well as further investigate the feasibility of a Carbon Capture Storage Hub in the Upper Spencer Gulf to accelerate the State’s emissions reduction capability.
We will help keep the lights on in South Australia, making electricity more reliable, reducing the risk of blackouts for South Australian's.
