What we are proposing...
A new Liberal Government will revitalise South Australia’s rivers and reservoirs by restoring native fish habitats, expanding recreational fishing access, and creating regional jobs.
South Australia’s ongoing algal bloom crisis has heavily impacted our recreational fishers and small businesses who rely on the health of our oceans.
Our plan will unlock more freshwater alternatives to get fishers fishing again.
A new Liberal Government will invest in the health of the Murray River and our aquatic ecosystems by rebuilding vital habitats where native fish can thrive and opening more spaces for our recreational fishers.
We will pursue opening more reservoirs across the state for recreational use, restocking rivers and waterways to enhance tourism and attract both South Australian and interstate fishers.
We will establish a freshwater hatchery at the Loxton Research Centre to breed Murray Cod, Golden Perch, Freshwater Catfish, and Silver Perch. This will create local jobs, reduce interstate reliance, and improve sustainability of South Australia’s native fish population.
Our plan will enhance our natural environment, boost regional jobs, and inspire the next generation to protect and care for our waterways.
