Transforming one of South Australia’s recreational treasures.
Many sections of Linear Park are in urgent need of upgrades to ensure our open spaces are safer and more accessible for families and communities.
That’s why we’re committed to investing $10 million to deliver better lighting along walking and cycling paths, install new facilities like barbecues, toilets, drinking fountains and nature playgrounds, and support environmental restoration.
Paths are worn down, and inadequate lighting in some areas discourages walkers and cyclists from utilising the area, especially during the shorter winter days.
Thousands of South Australia use Linear Park for exercise, birthday parties, or to travel to and from work, which is why it's critical it be maintained for the community to continue to enjoy.
We believe South Australians deserve access to safe, accessible, family-friendly open spaces.
This includes improving the health of the River Torrens, protecting its riverbanks, and reintroducing native species into the system like the platypus.
We are committed to preserving and enhancing Linear Park, ensuring it remains a vibrant, accessible, and safe space for our community for generations to come.
This is part of our plan for safer suburbs and stronger communities.
